The NW SOCAP Portland chapter fall event was a tour at the award winning PacifiCorp call center. Portland is home to a large number of Contact Centers and with over 50 attendees, we had a great turnout. PacifiCorp has an excellent history of outstanding performance. One look in their trophy case reveals the reason recent awards from ICMI, SQM, and UCI. The Pacific Power team gave a great tour, with detailed information on their training process, workforce management, and social media.

You have to hand it to CEO Scott Morris and his crew at Avista Corp; they know how to choose an event location. This year’s annual conference was in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, ID at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Kicking off the event this year was an incredible day of golf at the Golf Club at Black Rock. Then back to the Coeur d’Alene Resort for networking and conference meetings. As usual, the topics ranged from Regulatory information updates to Economic Policy, interspersed with guest speakers to discuss the trends in adapting to changing Customer needs and Cyber Security.

That’s right, construction on our new space is finally complete! With the large inventory of commercial space available in the Portland Metro area, Active TeleSource was able to secure a sweet deal to put all Customer Service, Operations, IT, and Management under the same roof and still maintain 35 training seats. The best part about this location is the empty space next door that will allow for a straightforward expansion as future projects come online.

Our new facility has a large wetland/green space on the West side of the lot, managed by the Wetlands Conservancy. We signed up to volunteer for a weekend cleanup day. About 25 agents and managers showed up to walk carefully through the area and pick up trash. Lunch came courtesy of our BBQ grill in the parking lot.

Power and Associates recognizes Clark Public Utilities with highest customer satisfaction ranking for residential electric service among midsize electricity providers in the Western United States. In addition, Clark Public Utilities received the highest numerical score in the study regardless of utility size or region among 124 utilities included in the study.

The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals held their annual Spring Symposium in Las Vegas at the newly opened Cosmopolitan Hotel/Casino this year. The buzz this year was all about Social Media; how to be effective and how to respond. A special thank you to Zappos.com for hosting a tour of their facility. Besides being an amazing company, they really do have an amazing philosophy; albeit a simple one.

Sure to be an annual favorite with our crew, the Bridge to Brew Walk/Run is a family friendly event that starts and ends at one of Portland’s original brewers, Widmer Brothers brewing company. Almost 4,000 people took part in the event this year, with almost 2 dozen from Active TeleSource. Get ready for Bridge to Brew 2012 on Sunday April 15th.
